| Mr. Patrick James (in the blue sweater) was the principal guest speaker on Feb. 27. He spoke about Dr. Martin Luther King and gave a stirring reading of Dr. King’s “I have a dream” speech from 1963. Our partner organization, the African American Club of West Pasco, provided other speakers and music. Buddy and Dottie from the AAC provided additional items for our displays: a photograph taken and signed by the famous photographer of Harlem, James Vandezee, medals from the leader of the "Back to Africa" movement, Marcus Garvey, and photos of his relative who was one of the famed Tuskegee airmen. A rare book entitled Down South with photos of African Americans before 1900 was also shown. A video clip from the program is here. |
